I am a doctoral student and research assistant at the
Department of Linguistics,
University of Konstanz, Germany. Currently,
I am working in project 4
(PI: Miriam Butt)
of DFG funded research project "Questions at the Interface".
P4 investigates the structure of questions in Urdu with a particular interest in non-canonical questions.
I believe that exploring the interaction between different linguistic levels is the key to unraveling
the complex process of linguistic communication. My work is concerned with the prosody-syntax-pragmatics interface.
I am particularly interested in the prosodic realization of focus (question particles, focus particles) and its interaction
with word order.
I co-organized a workshop on the interface of prosody and meaning. The workshop webpage may be accessed
Miriam Butt and I are organizing the 34th South Asian Linguages Analysis Roundtable (SALA-34) in 2018.
You can access the conference webpage here.
