Formant Values for Turkish Vowels (based on 2 speakers)

Purpose: These measurements were done to guide the preparation of synthetic stimuli for our ongoing psycholinguistic experiments.

Speakers:

M1= male; 33 years old; speaker of Standard Turkish

M2= male; 26 years old; speaker of Standard Turkish

Recording:

Stimuli were recorded (44.1 kHz, 16 bits) at the sound attenuated EEG lab at the University of Konstanz.

This dVdVt high read

‘This dVdVt is read with a high voice’

8 nonsense words. V1 and V2 were always the same vowel within each word (e.g., didit, dudut, etc.).
Each word was repeated 14 times, yielding 112 tokens.

Formant Analyses:

First syllable: dV

Second syllable: dVt

F_0,F₁, F₂, F₃ were measured at the center of the vowel using Praat 4.6.37 (Boersma & Weenink 2007; from http://www.praat.org)
